BUYING ANTIQUES -
F.A.Q
Can I ship a single
item ?
We can ship all sorts of pieces, from one small
item to an important load. We will adapt packing
and crating to the type of merchandise to be shipped
and will use the most appropriate means of transportation
(road, airfreight or seafreight).

When do I need to pay
my invoice ?
Once your piece is ready to leave our warehouse,
we will fax or e.mail you our invoice corresponding
to the exact final volume to be sent after packing
and crating.
For airfreight shipments, we require that payment
be made before the goods are sent.
For seafreight shipments, payments have to be received
before the goods reach the port .

Can I pay with a credit
card ?
Our market office will accept payment by credit
card for shipping invoices. All other payments can
be made by wire transfer in US Dollars or Euros
to our account.

What is the percentage
of local taxes and duties at destination ?
This depends on the country of importation and the
nature of the goods. We provide antique statements
for goods over 100 years old entering the US and
Canada which means that they are exonerated from
duties. Import taxes vary but are usually minor.
Our experimented staff will deal with your individual
queries.

Can Edet provide local
transport to residence at destination ?
Whether your shipment be by air or by boat, we can
arrange a door to door delivery (along with unpacking
and disposal of materials upon request at most destinations).

Does Edet actually ship
anywhere in the world ?
Whatever the destination, we can organise the shipment.

Can I use my own insurance
?
We do provide competitive rates on insurance (all
risk or total loss policies). However, you may also
take out your own coverage.

Do I pay VAT on my purchases
?
You will not pay VAT on goods for export. The exoneration
will either be applied immediately by the vendor
or we will provide him the proof of exportation
so that he can reimburse you any prepaid VAT.

Can I pay in US Dollars
?
Our international bank account accepts Euros or
US Dollars using the exchange rate on the day of
the transaction.

Do I need my own broker
?
We always have a local agent able to take care of
customs clearance whatever the destination. However,
if you already have your own broker, we are more
than happy to use him.
